Question:

If a person went 40 days to south Africa and he started ramadan one day later. He is currently in UK and for him eid is supposed to be tomorrow, but he’s only fasted 28 days what should he do?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

If a person is celebrating Eid on his 28th day, then he will celebrate Eid and then do qadha of the remaining fasts after the month of Ramadan.[i]

إذا كان الشخص قد أتم صيام 28 يومًا، فيحتفل بالعيد ثم يقضي باقي الصيام بعد رمضان

If a person has completed 28 days of fasting, they will celebrate Eid and then make up the remaining fasts after the month of Ramadan.
