Question:

A sister has asked: She is due to go for umrah tomorrow and is on her haydh. She is only there for 5 nights.

She said she will try to return to Makkah to do her ‘Umrah but, In the event that her haydh does NOT finish by the time she leaves, and it is NOT possible to return, how does one come out of ihram?

Answer:

Being cautious of menstrual cycles before umrah is of paramount importance to prevent incurring any penalties. If a sister is on her menstrual cycle she will proceed to do tawaf while in a state of impurity and she must pay the penalty/Damm. This will be to sacrifice a sheep or a goat in the precincts of the Haram, and she will not eat from it. This is if she can’t wait until her cycle is over. If she can wait, then she must wait and then perform Umrah. If she finds herself out of her cycle and is able to repeat the tawaf, after already doing so while impure, then it is best to do so and she will not have to proceed with the penalty.
