Question:

In Tarāwīḥ, If I remember to do Sajdah Tilaawah a few minutes after the Sajdah spot, Can I still do it? Or because it wasn’t within the 3 verses timeframe it now becomes null?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

In the month of Ramadan, during Tarāwīḥ prayer, it is common to encounter verses that require Sajdah Tilāwah(prostration of recitation).

In the Hanafi madhhab, Sajdah Tilāwah is wājib (obligatory) when a person recites or hears one of the 14 verses of prostration in the Qur’an. It should ideally be performed immediately after the verse, but a delay does not nullify the obligation, unless certain conditions apply.

if a person remembers the sajdah a few minutes later, even after several verses, the sajdah is still valid and must be performed, provided:

The delay is not excessively long, one has not exited the prayer, and there was no major interruption or engagement in unrelated activities.

If the person completes the prayer without performing Sajdah Tilāwah, then the obligation still remains and must be fulfilled outside of salah, separately. This is based on the principle that a missed wājib must be made up.
