Question:
Respectable Sir,
I have a eight months old son, one day i am playing with him and suddenly i kissed on his chest…..the boy laughed. i just said to myself that the guy is like his mother as he is also enjoying touching his chest as does his mother enjoys touching the same area.
the line just came to my mind without any intention whatsoever, i never told this to my wife but asked her that if a person do so….what are islamic teachings…..she has nothing to answer.
Respectable Sir,
Kindly guide me to determine that i had done zihaar or not….
Answer:
Firstly, it is necessary to understand that there are certain women who are permanently haram for a person to marry. For example mother, sister, grandmother etc. Although in general it is permissible to look at such women, there are certain parts of the body which will be not be permissible to look at, for example the back, the private parts etc.
Secondly, the definition of Zihaar is for the husband to compare his wife with such a woman who is permanently haram for him to marry or for him to compare his wife to their body parts which are haram for him to look at.

With regard to your question, the situation does not fit the criteria of zihaaras no comparison was made between your wife and such a woman who is permanently haram for you to marry, rather the son was the one compared to his mother.
