Question:

Assalamu alikum. I'm a single 19 yr old sister. I don't understand fully  the difference between maniy and mahdi. I don't understand the whole concept of feeling the sensation or having desires. Does thinking about  sex and feeling something coming out requires ghusl? What if one feels  some warmth or like as if it's coming out forcefully. I thought maniy is only for non virgins. Pls help

jazakum Allah khairun .

Answer:

Bismillah

Maniy: semen, sperm, spermatic fluid. It is the discharge of semen accompanied by sexual pleasure whether asleep or wake. This applies to males and similar to females. Discharging Maniy requires ghusl. Allah the almighty said ‘If you are sexually defiled, purify yourselves’. (Al- Quran 5:6)

Madhi: Pre-seminal fluid discharged before ejaculation of semen. Pre-coital fluid, a thin fluid generally released by the private parts of both men and women at the time of passion. Ibn Hajar Asqalani raḥimahullāh (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said: ‘Madhi is that comes out during jest or play or when sexual relation is mentioned or when have intention of having sexual relation’. (Fathul Mulhim, Hadeeth no: 705/303)

Having Madhi discharged or thinking about relations and feeling something coming out does not require ghusl.  Ali raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: I was a man who emitted a great deal of prostatic fluid, but I felt too shy to ask the prophet about that because of the position of his daughter, so I told Al-Miqdad bin Al-Aswad to ask him. And he ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him)  said : Let him  wash his private part and perform wudu. (Muslim: 695/303. Bukhari: 178)

Only Allah knows best.
