Question:
Any tahqeeq on lipase?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Lipase is an enzyme the body uses to break down fats in food so they can be absorbed in the intestines. Lipase is produced in the pancreas, mouth, and stomach. Lipase is also used in foods and is known as an enzyme, it can be from animals, vegetables, or microbial sources. Lipase which is from animals such as pigs is haram, however, if it is from animals that are halal and are slaughtered in the correct way then it is permissible to consume. Lipase from vegetables and microbial sources is also halal.
Only Allah knows best.
