Question:
I would like to know whether the red box of Lindor chocolates is halal. The ingredients seem fine but it does not say Suitable for vegetarians
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
For something suitable for vegetarians, it must meet the following criteria, as described by the Vegetarian Society Approved website.
- Contains no ingredient resulting from slaughter
- Only free-range eggs are used
- Measures in place to avoid cross-contamination during production
- GMO-free
- No animal testing carried out or commissioned
Although many vegetarian products may be considered Halaal, being suitable for vegetarians is not equivalent to being Halaal. Some products that are suitable for vegetarians may be Haraam. For example, if they contain alcohol, they would be Haram (Qur’an 2:219).
There are currently no Haraam ingredients in Lindor, so it is Halaal to consume.
