Question:
We want to buy a house and have asked our in-laws (non-Muslims) for help. They are willing to help but we know 100% that they will borrow the money from the bank. Can we take the money from them and pay them back monthly?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
When your non Muslim in laws take a loan from the bank, for them it will not be wrong. They can do whatever they want with the money.
If they borrow you the money, then you being a Muslim, you can only return what you borrowed. If they ask anything extra, then this will constitute interest and it will be unlawful.
Therefore you can take assistant from your non Muslim family but you return only the amount you took. For them it will be interest on the loan, for you it will be a debt and a favour they did upon you.
Only Allah (عز و جل) knows best.
