Question:
I have been suffering from OCD for past many years and my condition has gone worst.
I have consulted a doctor and I am on medication for past 1.5 years. My question is regarding some serious oaths that I have taken to overcome my disease.
Sir, I have taken many serious oaths with serious conditions. such as that I swear to Allah If I do this and this or if I answered to shaitans whispers I will become, Nauzubillah, a non-believer or nafarman of Allah. But soon I realized my mistake and I broke these promises by saying,” O Allah i take back my words”. Now, Pleaae tell me what should I do? I have repented and made sincere Tauba to never say such things.
Also, could you tell me if I placed the aforementioned conditions (mentioned above) on deleting Facebook by stating that if I retract these oaths, I will delete facebook. To the best of my knowledge, one cannot take back an oath? My question is, can i use facebook again? does using facebook will make me sinful?

Answer:
Whenever a person makes an oath to disobey Allah, he must break that oath and pay the Kaffarah (penalty) for it.
Similarly, if a person took an oath then realized that it was the wrong thing to do, he should break it and pay the Kaffarah (penalty).
The Kaffarah (penalty) for breaking an oath is as follows;
Freeing a slave, or feeding ten poor people two average meals, or clothing ten poor people.
If a person is unable to fulfil any of the above, then he/she should fast for three consecutive days. (1)
In conclusion, the irrational oaths that you took can be broken, however the Kaffarah (penalty) must be given.
(1)لَا يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ اللَّهُ بِاللَّغْوِ فِي أَيْمَانِكُمْ وَلَكِنْ يُؤَاخِذُكُمْ بِمَا عَقَّدْتُمُ الْأَيْمَانَ فَكَفَّارَتُهُ إِطْعَامُ عَشَرَةِ مَسَاكِينَ مِنْ أَوْسَطِ مَا تُطْعِمُونَ أَهْلِيكُمْ أَوْ كِسْوَتُهُمْ أَوْ تَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ ذَلِكَ كَفَّارَةُ أَيْمَانِكُمْ إِذَا حَلَفْتُمْ وَاحْفَظُوا أَيْمَانَكُمْ كَذَلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ آيَاتِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
(Al-Maidah : 89)
(وكفارته) هذه إضافة للشرط، لان السبب عندنا الحنث
(تحرير رقبة أو إطعام عشرة مساكين) كما مر في الظهار (أو كسوتهم بما) يصلح للأوساط وينتفع به فوق ثلاثة أشهر، و (يستر عامة البدن) فلم يجز السراويل
إلا باعتبار قيمة الإطعام.

)وَأَمَّا الثَّالِثُ فَهُوَ كَفَّارَةُ الْيَمِينِ لِأَنَّ الْوَاجِبَ فِيهَا أَحَدُ الْأَشْيَاءِ الثَّلَاثَةِ بِاخْتِيَارِهِ فِعْلًا غَيْرَ عَيْنٍ، وَخِيَارُ التَّعْيِينِ إلَى الْحَالِفِ يُعَيِّنُ أَحَدَ الْأَشْيَاءِ الثَّلَاثَةِ بِاخْتِيَارِهِ فِعْلًا، وَهَذَا مَذْهَبُ أَهْلِ السُّنَّةِ وَالْجَمَاعَةِ فِي الْأَمْرِ بِأَحَدِ الْأَشْيَاءِ أَنَّهُ يَكُونُ أَمْرًا بِوَاحِدٍ مِنْهَا غَيْرِ عَيْنٍ، وَلِلْمَأْمُورِ خِيَارُ التَّعْيِينِ وَقَالَتْ الْمُعْتَزِلَةُ يَكُونُ أَمْرًا بِالْكُلِّ عَلَى سَبِيلِ الْبَدَلِ.
