Question:

please advise if huqooq ul ibaad is more important than your stand for religion. e.g. if someone does something really sinful like zina and you break ties with them for the sake of standing true to Islam.

do you really need to associate with this person anymore?

Answer:

Bismillah

You may have heard of the saying “ why have OR when you can have AND “. Well,  it applies here also. If someone does something wrong then there are two ways of dealing with it.

One , where you decide to detach yourself from them.

Second,  where you remain with them , helping to guide them to the straight path , using different methods to get them closer to the religion. In our situation it seems the second one is more applicable .

You detaching yourself from such a person will only leave him / her with one less good person in their life. If you can show kindness, care and offer religious support perhaps this may be the best way to deal with the situation.

Yes , you should not accompany them when they engage in sinful acts or do thing which encourage such things.

However if at any time you feel your own faith may be disadvantaged by their companionship then in that situation its best if you keep yourself at a distance.

Only Allah Knows best.
