Question:
Below are someone’s dates. The spotting on the 9th is still continuing today. She’s wondering if she can perform Umrah today (the 20th) or not.
Nov 4 – 9 — Period
Nov 10 — Clean
Nov 25 – 30 — Period
Dec 1 — Clean
Dec 7 – Dec 10 — Period
Dec 11 – Clean
Dec 21 – Dec 25 Period
Dec 26 – Clean
Jan 9 – Only brown spots
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Haidh is considered to be a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 10 days. Anything less than 3 days and more than 10 days will be considered istihaadha.
The minimum number of days of purity between your period is 15 days. (1).
Therefore, from December 30th to Jan 7th, it was insufficient time for purity. Till Dec 13th, the bleeding was istihaadha. The bleeding till 23rd December is Haidh. The 24th Day of December is Istihaadha as the days of Haidh are calculated as 24 hours. From January 7th, Haidh bleeding resumes and so the bleeding on the 9th is Haidh.
