Can a person urinate before having a fardh ghusl
In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.
Answer
It is recommended from a medical point of view to urinate after being intimate with one’s wife or having a wet dream before having the ritual bath. This will allow the remaining drops of semen to come out of one’s private parts. (Ihya Ulumu Din with its commentary Ithaf al Sadat al Mattaqin p.184 v.6)
In the aforementioned scenario it will be permissible and considered recommended to urinate in particular before having a fardh ghusl. If one needs to do faeces then that is also permissible prior to the ritual bath as it may be harmful medically to keep the faeces in.
