Question:

I need to know about a situation. One of our close-known family is having such a tough time even to survive. I want to help but even I am not so well off to provide with basic necessities each month.

So in that case I’m thinking to put my all savings accounts and each month the interest that will come at least they could eat three times n survive well.

That interest amount I won’t use for any of my personal use but if it could help some to eat and live so will that be a sin?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

May Allah Ta’ala make it easy for your family. The jurists have stated that interest is not permissible to utilize1 as it is clearly prohibited in The Quran “But Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest”2, and The Ahadeeth of The Prophet ﷺ Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas’ud: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) cursed the one who accepted usury, the one who paid it, the witness to it, and the one who recorded it.3
