Question:
My question is, can I wear a silver ring which is similar to Rasulallah (S.A.W) ring, it is written on the ring “Allah Rasool Mohammad” in Arabic, I don’t like to wear a ring but this ring actually like it because of it Arabic calligraphy and shahada, please Sheikh tell me it is permissible to wear it?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Prophet (ﷺ) got a ring made for himself and said, “I have got a ring made (for myself) and engraved a certain engraving on it so none of you should get such an engraving on his ring.” I saw the glitter of the ring on his little finger. (Sahih Al Bukhari, 5874)
The ring was made so that the Prophet ﷺ could sign with it the letters he wrote to the kings (Umdatul Qari, Vol 22, Pg 54). The sign was unique to him and distinguished him from others (Fathul Bari, Vol 10, Pg 337).
However, this prohibition was restricted to the time of the Prophet ﷺ (al-Mawahib al-Laduniyya Ala Shamaail Muhammadiyya, Pg 213). Therefore, you can wear a ring which looks the same.
Only Allah knows best.
