Question:
Can you do Udhiya on behalf of the deceased as Ithaalus thawaab
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Yes, one may perform a nafl udhiya on behalf of one’s deceased relatives and thereafter convey the reward to them or to as many people as one wishes.1
It is related in Sunan Abi Dawud Narrated Hanash: I saw Ali sacrificing two rams; so I asked him: What is this? He replied. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) enjoined upon me to sacrifice on his behalf, so that is what I am doing.2
