Question:
I would really appreciate help in clarifying my issue. I recently saw a pious, well mannered and amazing man in a rishta meeting under the halal conditions as is stated in Islam. We both saw each other at a wedding before this meeting and expressed interest in one another to our parents and the meeting was set. When we met one another everything was great and I did istikhaara which came out very positive and gave my answer as a yes for a second meeting. However, he said that for him everything was very positive he also liked me but there was a negative thing which he did istikhaara regarding and his istikhaara was very negative. Is it shaitaan who put bad things in his heart or was it the fact that he was thinking slightly negative before the istikhaara rather than remaining neutral? He has given his answer as a no but my positive istikhaara and his deen and akhlaq makes me want to explain to him that how can Allah give us two contradictory signs?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
It is the dua that was taught by Rasool Ullah himself to the Sahaba to seek Allah’s assistance in any matter.[i]
In your case, the results of istikhara for both parties are different so it is better to leave as there is doubt in it. Even if your istikhara comes positive you can’t force someone to accept your results as the result of istikhara does not become sharia, you can implement it on yourself and that’s only if it is on the path of sharia but you cannot apply it on others.
In short, pray to Allah and move forward from the rishta as the other party has no interest in it.
Only Allah knows best.
