Question:
Could you please mention specifically which rings women are not allowed to wear? It mentions iron, brass, copper, and lead. What about rings from alloy? or rings that are stainless steel? what about rings that tarnish and rust?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
According to the shariah, women are specifically allowed to wear rings of gold and silver. To wear rings made of lead/iron or other than it is disliked. As you’ve stated, rings made of iron, copper, brass and glass are Makruh to wear. (1)
Hence, you should avoid wearing rings that are made of anything other than gold and silver.
Nevertheless, rings that are made of other materials that are coated in gold or silver are permissible. (2)
Thus, depending on the dominant metal in the alloy, the ring will be permissible if it’s mainly made of silver or gold.
Rings made of other than silver and gold will not be permissible.
