Question:
AssalaamAlaikum. I have interest money that I wish to dispose of. There are a couple of very poor and needy Muslims in my area. I was informed that they can accept the interest money on the condition that I don’t inform them that it is interest money. Is there such a condition I.e. a needy person cannot accept interest money if he knows that what he is receiving is interest money?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
When a person has collected money through haram earnings then it is an obligation to give that money in donation to anyone. Now, if there are Muslims in the area who are needy then you can give it to them. It is wise not to mention the type of money it is to them. A Muslim will be less receptive to receiving such kind of money if told.
