Question:

Someone told me that apparently Crescent products can’t be trusted as they do vertical slaughter even with cows.

Answer:

After correspondence with the HMS (Halal Monitoring Services), we have learned the following:

Crescent does not slaughter any beef. They only produce chicken.

Crescent sells beef from Australia/New Zealand which is monitored by local Ulama organizations affiliated with HMS.

None of these plants conducts vertical cut slaughter as HMS requires. Hence, HMS-affiliated Ulama consider it impermissible.
