Question:

I am getting confused with some answers about wudu breaking with a pimple burst. I understand that the flowing of pus or blood from a pimple burst will invalidate wudu, however, if it doesn’t flow from the site it burst, and it was caused by my hand scraping it purposely, will that invalidate wudu? Additionally, it seems that if the burst happened on its own it does not invalidate wudu, is that even if it was flowing?

Answer:

If a pimple bursts and the pus or blood flows from its place, then it will break Wudhu. However, if it simply appears and does not flow, it will not break Wudhu (Fatawa Qazi Khan, Vol 1, Pg 39). (1)

Regardless of whether a pimple bursts itself or the burst is caused by something else, it will break Wudhu, as the cause for the breaking of Wudhu is the appearance of Najaasah, which occurs in both situations (Fathul Qadeer, Vol 1, Pg 56). (2)
