Question:

Qurbani done by rep overseas, do names have to be taken by Dhabi?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

It is not a condition that the Dhabi (one slaughtering the animal) takes the name of the owner by name. This is because the Dhabi (one slaughtering the animal) is slaughtering an animal that was pre-allocated and intended for the owner. There is a principle in fiqh that states “Matters are determined according to intention”1, based on this principle since the animal was intended for the owner it will be understood as such, and the name will not have to be taken.
