Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

I have a few questions and I need detailed answers with the reference of the Quran and Hadith.

Does a wife need to fulfil the ethical, legal and Islamic commands of the Husband in a case when the husband is earning less money as compared to the wife?

If a husband stops his wife for doing something e.g Job etc, does she need to obey His Commands?

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

A wife is obligated to obey her husband under all circumstances, irrespective of their income or their statuses. A husband is permitted to prevent his wife from doing something considering that he does not break her rights as well.

All these commandments should be understood under the pretext of the noble verse, “And live with them (i.e. your women) with goodness.”[1]
