Question

People say that after making wudu if someone washes their hands with soap, their wudu will become invalid. Is this true?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Using soap does not fall under the breakers of wudhu thus it cannot invalidate a person’s wudhu.

The breakers of wudhu are as follows:

1: Anything that exits from the front and back passage. (privates and anus)

2: Blood or puss coming out from the body when it flows past the place it came out from (i.e its wound)

3: Vomit when it fills the mouth.

4: Falling into a state of sleep where the body is relaxed and the person is unconscious.

5: Falling into unconsciousness or losing one’s sanity.

6: Laughing during Salaat. [1]

Since soap is neither filthy nor does it fall under the breakers of wudhu it cannot break wudhu.
