Question

My husband and I had an argument so I said I can't stay in a relationship like this if he doesn't stop. He then writes [type] on his computer that he gives me three talaaks. I then said it's ok so he told me that he did not say it verbally yet. so a week after that after another argument u did print that letter and ask me to sign it I did sign it so I want to know is the talaq valid?

Answer:

When your husband had typed on his computer regarding talaq, it will depend on his intention whether he typed that similar to a note directed at you or for some other reason.

If his intention was to give you talaaq at that moment, then talaaq occurred the first time he typed it on the computer, otherwise not. Furthermore, when the letter was printed and directed to you for signing, this already represents a formally written divorce paper, therefore after you signed it, three divorces occur even if it hadn’t occurred the first time.
