Question:

If someone goes from Makkah to Jeddah and back to Makkah, does he have to perform Umrah again?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Umrah is a voluntary act which can be done any time of the year beside the days of hajj. The necessary action for umrah is to adorn the ihram before the meeqat (boundaries of the haram), the tawaaf of the ka’bah, the sa’ee between Safa and Marwa and lastly the shaving of the head.

If a person completed his umrah, left Makkah and went to Jeddah, he will not have to put on the ihram again and do another umrah unless if he intend on doing one.

Therefore one who go to Jeddah will not have to do an umrah again and he will not have to put on the ihram as Jeddah is within the boundary and he will not cross the meeqat.

العمرة سنة وتصح في جميع السنة وتكره يوم عرفة ويوم النحر وأيام التشريق.

وكيفيتها أن يحرم لها من مكة من الحل بخلاف إحرامه للحج فإنه من الحرم،

وأما الآفاقي الذي لم يدخل مكة فيحرم إذا قصدها من الميقات ثم يطوف ويسعى لها ثم يحلق وقد حل منها كما بيناه بحمد الله

(قَوْلُهُ أَيْ لِآفَاقِيٍّ) أَيْ وَمَنْ أُلْحِقَ بِهِ كَالْحَرَمِيِّ وَالْحِلِّيِّ إذَا خَرَجَا إلَى الْمِيقَاتِ كَمَا يَأْتِي فَتَقْيِيدُهُ بِالْآفَاقِيِّ لِلِاحْتِرَازِ عَمَّا لَوْ بَقِيَا فِي مَكَانِهِمَا، فَلَا يُحْرِمُ كَمَا يَأْتِي (قَوْلُهُ يَعْنِي الْحَرَمَ) أَيْ الْآتِي تَحْدِيدُهُ قَرِيبًا لَا خُصُوصُ مَكَّةَ، وَإِنَّمَا قُيِّدَ بِهَا لِأَنَّ الْغَالِبَ قَصْدُ دُخُولِهَا (قَوْلُهُ غَيْرَ الْحَجِّ) كَمُجَرَّدِ الرُّؤْيَةِ وَالنُّزْهَةِ أَوْ التِّجَارَةِ فَتْحٌ (قَوْلُهُ أَمَّا لَوْ قَصَدَ مَوْضِعًا مِنْ الْحِلِّ إلَخْ) أَيْ مِمَّا بَيْنَ الْمِيقَاتِ وَالْحَرَمِ.

وَالْمُعْتَبَرُ الْقَصْدُ عِنْدَ الْمُجَاوِزِ لَا عِنْدَ الْخُرُوجِ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ كَمَا سَيَأْتِي فِي الْجِنَايَاتِ: أَيْ قَصْدًا أَوَّلِيًّا كَإِذَا قَصَدَهُ لِبَيْعٍ أَوْ شِرَاءٍ، وَأَنَّهُ إذَا فَرَغَ مِنْهُ يَدْخُلُ مَكَّةَ ثَانِيًا إذْ لَوْ كَانَ قَصْدُهُ الْأَوَّلِيُّ دُخُولَ مَكَّةَ، وَمِنْ ضَرُورَتِهِ أَنْ يَمُرَّ فِي الْحِلِّ فَلَا يَحِلُّ لَهُ
