Question

I am a married man and require urgent help. I need a reply fast, please.

I have been affected by waswasa for the last 10 years almost. Now after my marriage I am getting thoughts of divorce a lot. To an extent that even if I am writing the word divorce here I have to fight the waswasa.

I don't want to leave my wife at all.

Recently some sentences regarding divorce have been running in my mind. I have tried to control a lot but have failed. Few times while the sentence was running in my mind when the word talaq came my tongue moved a little. It happened 2-3 times maybe I am not sure. Now I have been fighting to see whether the tongue only moved or the whole world came to my mouth. What should I do, take it as waswasa or what? I also am afraid of lying to Allah.

I am really scared. I don't want to lose my wife at all.

Answer

Divorce only counts when it is pronounced or written clearly and is directed at your wife. If you merely say the statement of divorce because it is in your mind but you do not direct it at your wife when you speak it then it will not count. [Badai’ As-Sanai’ 4:230]
