Question:

I have a cat. One time when the cat was peeing in its litter tray, I saw some of its hair touch the sand where it had urinated. Then a few days later I saw a cat hair on my prayer mat. Should I repeat my ṣalah? The way the cat touched the sand, I do not think the impurity is equal to one dirham coin.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

In the described scenario, the prayer (ṣalāh) is valid. There is no need to repeat the prayer. The reason for this is that there is no certainty that the impurity is on the specific hair. Impurities are known by smell and or clear visibility. The other factor is that the assumed impurity is in a very negligible amount. – (See: Rad Al-Muḥtār, Vol 6, Page 7331, Vol 1, Page 1882 Dār Al-Fikr, Al-Qawāid Al-Fiqhīyyah, Page 15, Dār Al-Tirmidhī3)
