Question:

My aunt told me my uncle got me an English Holy Quran. When I saw the Holy Quran I thought it was my uncle’s and he wanted me to have it. Then I noticed that it was all English so I said no aunt I don’t want the English, I want half English and half Arabic I am being sinful for this rejecting to get the Holy Quran as a gift for the reason it was English only also I had a bad thought about my uncle is that bad and later I found out my uncle bought the Holy Quran for me so I said no I wanted the Arabic and English version astrfraAllah and then I was worried so I said I will accept the Holy Quran because it’s good for my uncle and I want to accept the Holy Quran. And then I thought I was being sinful and maybe I don’t know if I committed Kufr I don’t know if this is sinful or did I commit kufr?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

You are not being sinful by turning down the English Qur’an because you wanted the Arabic Qur’an. It would be sinful if it was done with the intention of rejecting its validity because it is all valid and part of the Qur’an – it is the translation. Accept and recite from the Holy Qur’an to gain the pleasure of Almighty Allah and to gain closeness to him. The act of reciting the Qur’an should be for no one else or any other purpose. It is not committing kufr the way that you responded and it is also not sinful wanting the entire Arabic version done with the intention of reading and wanting to read the Quraan in the form that which is recited in salah.
