Question:

In nalf prayers, do you have to face the qiblah? or can you pray to face any direction you want?

In the name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Some of the prerequisites for the completion of any Salah are to make an intention, pray at the correct time, be pure & in that state of Wudhu, and cover the Awrah (i.e., the private parts). Amongst them is to also face the Qiblah without which the Salah will be deemed invalid. [Radd ul-Muhtār: vol. 2, pg. 72] [1]
