Question:

 

If by the age of 40 , I have enough funds in my pension to go for Hajj. Does it become obligatory for me to withdraw the amount and use it on Hajj?

 

 

 

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

 

Answer:

 

The regulations regarding pensions differ from country to country. 

 

• In certain countries, you cannot withdraw your pension until you retire. In fact, the law may even make it impossible for you to access your pension before retirement.
• In other countries, you may legally access your pension and you may freely withdraw money from your pension account even if you are young and healthy.

 

If you have no access to your pension account and you do not have enough access to money to perform Hajj, then Hajj is not compulsory for you.

 

However if you do have access to your pension funds, and there is enough money for you to perform Hajj and financially provide for your dependents (e.g. your children and wife) until you return, then Hajj will be compulsory for you.

وَرُوِيَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «مَنْ مَلَكَ زَادًا وَرَاحِلَةً تُبَلِّغُهُ إلَى بَيْتِ اللَّهِ الْحَرَامِ فَلَمْ يَحُجَّ، فَلَا عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَمُوتَ يَهُودِيًّا أَوْ نَصْرَانِيًّا» .
