Question:
Salaam, so I have had this happen before where I clean myself, make wudu, pray and I find a small wet patch at the back of my trousers where my buttocks would be however, I don’t wear my trousers all the way up due to this so I don’t understand how this would happen and also I am 100% sure that I do not feel anything come out of my back passage during prayer so does this invalidate my wudu and prayers?
It’s getting frustrating because the wet patch doesn’t smell of urine either so it’s confusing me as to what this could be and I don’t have discharge from my buttocks, this wetness only happens when I pray.
Please could you help?
Jazak’allah.

Answer:
Wa ‘alaykum al-salam rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
In the above scenario, you mentioned that prior to performing wudhu, you go ahead and clean yourself [istinja; with water, etc.].
After having made wudhu and thereafter praying, you notice a wet patch close to or around your buttocks area. This is despite you not wearing your trousers all the way up and you being entirely convinced that nothing exited from the rear passage.
In addition to all of this, you further clarify that the wet patch does not smell of urine and it is not discharge of any sort.
The following description, as a result, rules out any sort of najasah (impurity) or wudhu being broken.[1]
Hence, considering all the information you’ve provided, it seems like the wetness could most likely be body sweat or it could be water that finds its way to the back of your trousers after having performed wudhu.
Irrespective of whether it is body sweat, water, or something else, in this specific situation and future situations like this, your wudhu is not broken nor are you or your clothing impure.[2][3][4]
Thus, going forward, there should be no confusion regarding this. Nor should you stress or further contemplate this issue.
May Allah (SWT) ease your worries and concerns, and may He bless you immensely. Ameen.
