Question:

Is it permissible for one who is suffering from unbearable waswasa to follow the opinion of another madhab if it doesn’t lead to talfeeq?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

If a person suffers from constant waswasa, the remedy is not changing the madhab in a certain issue. This is because taking the opinion of another madhab (despite the fact that it may not lead to talfeeq) can only be a temporary solution before a person starts to hear more waswasa regarding other issues in religion as well.

At some point, a person must overcome their waswasa in one way or another. If you are patient، seek refuge in Allah and persist in the teachings of your madhab, then you may find that the waswasa gradually diminishes over time, and you will gain stronger conviction in your beliefs, Insha’Allah.
