Haazir Naazir

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Answer

The first two questions relate to the topic of whether the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam is Haazir or Naazir (Omnipresent)

Hazrat Maulana Yusuf Ludhyaanwi (RA) writes:

“ It is necessary to understand Haazir Naazir. This is an Arabic term, which means ‘present and seeing’, and when used together it qualifies a being whose presence encompasses the entire universe and he sees and has complete knowledge of every thing in this universe.

Only Allah (SWA) is Haazir Naazir and this is an exclusive attribute of Allah (SWA). One of the beliefs of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat is that life, knowledge, power, intention, hearing, seeing, are all the perfect attributes and qualities of Allah (SWA). He listens to every things voice and call whether it is in the heavens or the earth. He hears the sound of the movements of the smallest ant that moves beneath the seven earths. He sees everything in the universe at one and the same time. (Aqaaidul-Islam by Maulana Idris Kaandhlwi P.18)

We are all aware that the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam is resting in the Holy Grave in Madinah Munawarah and all the Muslims travel to Madinah Munawarah for ziyarat of the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam, and to say that he is present at all places does not make logical sense.

It is a false belief to say that after the death of the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam his soul has been given the power to present itself wherever it wishes. It is like every citizen of the country has the right to go to any part of his country; this does not make him Haazir Naazir. To be given the right to go wherever one wishes does not make one present everywhere.

Scholars have said that “Whosoever holds the belief that the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam is present and that he knows everything (Ilm ghaib) is a kaafir.”  (Fatawa Mahmoodiyah p.108 v.15, Nizamul Fatawa p.194 v.1 & Kifayatul Mufti p.164 v.1)

In the Holy Quran, Allah (SAW) has said: “And Muhammad is but a messenger, there have been messengers before him. So if he dies or is killed would you turn back on your heels.”? (Surah Al-Iman V.144)

Therefore, the conclusion we can come to is that the Prophet f Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam does not have the ability to be present in numerous places; he is only one place, which is his grave, and this is according to the consensus of the ulaamaas.

Finally, as the dawat (invitation) is the direct consequence of such a duruud shareef gathering which believes that the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam is omnipresent, thus, it will best no to attend it. If one is forced to go for the dawat, then one can go with the intention of rectifying these people.
