Question:
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah
-Regarding salah, when we're in Saudi for Hajj, the north-east direction for prayer doesn't apply as long as we're facing the Ka'ba correct?
-Can we apply fragrance prior to entering the state of ihram? Will our ihram be nullified if the fragrance applied earlier still remains?
-flavoured toothpaste during Ihram is okay or no?
-If I shower or bathe during Ihram, can I brush my beard? I have a compulsive habit to brush it a few times a day at the very least lol.

-during Ihram, is it permissible for men to cover their heads in any way? Hats, visor, imama, etc? Asking regarding sunlight and heat and whatnot

Answer:
Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh
Yes you face the Ka’bah.
It is permissible for one to apply fragrance before wearing the ihram clothing, with the condition that the one does not apply it on to one’s clothing such that the original state of the fragrance remains. If one applies it to one’s body and after wearing the ihram, only its scent remains, then this is permissible.[1]
If the flavoured toothpaste has a strong fragrance, then this is makruh (disliked). However, if it is a slight scent that does not remain for long, then this is permissible as toothpaste is not the essence of fragrance and neither is it used for perfuming purposes.[2]
It is not permissible to brush your beard as this can result in the hair being plucked out.[3]
It is not permissible to cover your head.[4]
