Question:

Assalamu Alaikum dear Brothers and Sisters, Respected Ulama. Due to the current situation, I am a little worried about how to deal with it as Muslims in a non-Muslim country if it would be attacked by another non-Muslim country. Alhamdulillah I am a convert from Germany and we have around 6% Muslims in Germany with Masajid, Quran Schools, Muslim markets with halal goods, Muslims have properties, and are living and working in other words living in this country. Some brothers say if an attack happens we should defend. Others say no we should flee to other countries (Muslim countries). My question is what should we do to be mentally prepared? Is it permissible to stay and defend as Muslims in a non-Muslim country against invading non-Muslims? What should we do if World War 3 breaks out? My wife and also many Sisters are worried. Jazak Allahu Khair

Answer:

There is no doubt that these are worrying times. As the world moves closer to the Day of Judgement, there are many great tribulations that have been prophesied. During such a time, we should stay connected with Allah, keep trying to do the best we can and be punctual with reciting Surah al-Kahf every Friday.

Rasulullah ﷺ mentioned about the greatest trial (i.e. the trial of Dajjaal):

‘It is not the Dajjal that I fear for you. If he were to appear while I am among you, then I will be his adversary on your behalf. And if he appears and I am not among you, then each man will have to fend for himself.

And Allah will take care of every Muslim after me. He is young, with curly hair, his eyes protruding, resembling someone from ‘Abdul-Uzza bin Qatan. Whoever among you sees him, then let him recite the beginning of Surah Ashab Al-Kahf.’

So, Rasulullah ﷺ has given us encouragement that Allah is with us, do not worry. Keep making dua and keep doing good deeds. We are all going to leave this world sooner or later. All we can do is the best with the lives that Allah has given us.

With regards to defending your country if it is attacked, then you can defend it if you wish1 and if you want to migrate to another country, you can do that also.
