Question:
On papers, someone has their name attached to Allah’s name “Rahman” without a prefix such as Abd or Abdul, I have stored these papers to ensure they are not disrespected by being thrown away and they are currently in a high place. However, because they are a lot in number, I have not cut out the name of Allah Subhana wa Ta’ala yet; have I been committing shirk or kufr by leaving the names the way they are for so long?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
It would be permissible to dispose of these papers after removing or wiping off Allah’s name.
(Raddul Muhtar – volume 1 – page 321 – Darul Kutub Ilmiyah)
Scholars have also mentioned that it is permissible to bury it, throw it in the river, or burn it after wiping away Allah’s name.
Only Allah knows best.
