Question

I had few books including the Quran, books of Hadeeth (Muntakhab Hadeeth/Fazaile Amaal) 7 to 8 in numbers on my shelf. I was not home for 2 months when I came back I saw lots of big mice sitting on books and all the books have visible droppings/excreta on them and also on the shelf. In some books, urine color is also visible. It is certain that they have become naajis now. What can I do with these religious books as they are naajis and if I touch with wet hands my hands will also become naajis. I cannot throw them also. Please let me know a suitable answer. Can I burn them all so that no one uses them in the future?

Answer:

If such an impurity falls on a place that it can be wiped off, it should be removed by scraping it. If the impurity is such that it cannot be scraped off but the effects of it are visible (such as urine) then it should be wiped with a wet cloth.

The books with droppings on them must be scraped off. Those books on which urine is visible must be wiped with a damp cloth.
