Question:

On the 10th June 2021, I have planned to get dental bonding also known as composite bonding on my teeth. I have several gaps in my front teeth and I feel insecure about them. I would like to know whether I can get this done as my actual teeth will not be shaved down and composite bonding lasts about 5 years. Also, I follow the Hanafi school of thought, therefore I would like to know if this dental bonding would affect my wudu and ghusl, please contact me as I need this advice.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Dental bonding will not affect your Wudhu since it is not Fardh in Wudhu to put water in one’s mouth and as far as Ghusl is concerned, the Jurists (RA) has clarified that in the occasion of Daroorah (need), it is not necessary to make the water reach underneath/inside. [1]
