Question:

Assalamu alaikum Shaykh. If a man is in a state of major ritual impurity, is it permissible for him to say the shahada loudly (with the movement of his tongue and lips)?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

In the state of major ritual impurity (i.e., when Ghusl is Waajib), it is permissible to read any Du’aas and reply to the Azaan (Fatawa Hindiyya, Vol 1, Pg 43). Therefore, it would be permissible to say the Shahadah loudly.

و يجوز للجنب و الحائض الدعوات و جواب الأذان و نحو ذلك كذا في السراجية

Only Allah knows best.
