Question:

If one is following a Maliki Imam in Jamaat and he does one salaam, will he do one salaam or carry on with two salaams?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

According to the Hanafi school, both salaams are wajib[1]. So if the Imam is only doing one, then after the Imam does the first, you should do the first and the second thereafter.[2]
