Question
A Musalli performing a four Rak’aat Fardh Salaah recites beyond his Tashahhud in the first Qa’dah:
أ. If the Musalli is an Imam or Munfarid then what is the condition of his Salaah?
ب. If the Musalli is a Muqtadi then what is the condition of his Salaah?
ج. Will there be any difference if it is a Fardh, Waajib, Sannah Muakkadah, Sunnah Ghair-Muakkadah or Nafl Salaah?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
If the Musalli is an imam or munfarid then they would do sajdah sahw if they said till “Allahumma Salli Ala Muhammadin.” If they are a Muqtadi then the condition of the salah is valid and there is nothing on the Muqtadi as the Imam is responsible for their prayer. There is no difference if the prayer was a fardh, wajib, or other prayers as he will have to do sajdah sahw (Ibn Abideen, Radd Al-Muhtar, Vol. 4, Pg. 484-485; Fatawa Mahmudiyyah, Vol. 7, Pg. 423-424)
