Question:

In Islam is taweez haram or halal?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

We are taught throughout the Quran and Sunnah to seek the protection of Allah through His words, supplications, and all permissible means within the bounds of Shariah. Therefore Using a taweez’ is permitted provided a few conditions are followed.

  • The ta’weez is in a language that can be understood, preferably Arabic, especially if when inserting Quran and Islamic Duas.
  • The ta’weez used is derived from the Quran and Sunnah.
  • The holder of the ta’weez understands that Allah’s benefit and harm come solely from Allah and the ta’weez can only be of effect by the will of Allah.
