Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

Husband served a divorce and left the house for five months upon his return separate lives were lead. Later an argument broke out and he served more divorces and left, later followed by more divorces, is one divorce given or has he served the irrevocable divorce.

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Once the first divorce is given by a clear verdict and three consecutive menstrual cycles pass without any relationship this invalidates the marriage. Therefore the divorces given after this period shall not be valid. If the couple wishes to recon ciliate then only nikah needs to be performed.
