Question:

The Imam leads 2 salat over after completing 24 hours of the masah on his Wudu socks, by mistake as he totally forgot. What is the ruling on this, please?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

If a person is a resident and not a traveller, then he wipes over his Khuffs for a maximum of a day and a night. However, if he is travelling, then he wipes over his Khuffs for a maximum of three days and nights. The commencement of wiping follows the occurrence of ritual impurity. 1

Whatever nullifies wudu nullifies wiping. The removal of the Khuff also nullifies it, and so does the expiry of the period of wiping. 2

Hence, in the aforementioned case, the Salah is not valid and therefore will have to be repeated.
