Question
If an Imam performs Muslim girls nikah with a non-Muslim or Qadiani knowingly, are there any ramifications to his Imaan
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
In this time and era, it is very important to understand the different types of sects in Islam. As for an Imam, it is very crucial he is equipped with the relevant information prior to performing marital ceremonies. In an era where many sects claim to be Islamic are yet so far from their core principles.
It is the right of the people that the imam leading communities time to time make the locals aware of such groups who in reality have nothing to do with Islam.
In regards to the above matter is of great shame for the imam if has conducted such a ceremony for the least it is a grave sin knowing that one side is a Muslim and the second party is of non-Muslim. He is an open transgressor of the religion of Islam. Thus the Quran clearly mentions in many verses of the holy book “Allah does not like transgressors” (Surah Al-Baqarah v253)
If the Imam does the ceremony of nikah thinking that the marriage is permissible and lawful Islamically this is kufr thus making it vital he renews his Imaan and renews his marriage if the imam is married. (Fatawaa Rahimiyyah v.6 p.191)
