Question:

In Fardh Salah, While Reciting Surah Ikhlas, if One Replaced the First ق by ك Then Will This Invalidate the Salah?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Due to pronouncing one letter in place of another, if it changes the meaning (in the case above قل meaning: “Say” and کل meaning: “Eat”) Salah will be invalid.

And if the letter ك clearly is pronounced in lieu of ق, the prayer will be nullified. [1]

If one reads a wrong letter unintentionally, one’s tongue slips or one is not aware of the differences between the two letters then Salah will be correct. [2]

One must train under an expert Qari and learn to pronounce these two letters from its Makhraj and Sifaat.
