I have a question about inheritance (wirasat).
A woman is married and the husband is alive.
she has two daughters.
she also has three brothers and her mother is also alive.
If the woman dies, what proportion her property would be distributed.
Please oblige with a fatwa.
In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.
According to the Islamic law of inheritance, distribution of an estate will only commence after funeral expenses, debts and if any bequests made to non-heirs, which do not exceed one-third of the estate after debts and funeral expenses, have been settled. Thereafter in the situation mentioned in your question, the net estate of the woman/wife will be divided into 13 equal shares.
The husband will receive 3 shares, each daughter will receive 4 shares, her mother will receive two shares and the brothers will be deprived and not receive anything from the estate.

3 Brothers Mother 2 Daughters Husband
1/6 2/3 1/4
2/12 8/12 3/12
2 8 3
4 each
And Allah knows best.
