It is best for menstruating women and those in the state of janābah (impurity after having relations) to refrain from sitting near the person who is soon to pass away.[1]

This is due to the hadith of the Prophet (may peace and blessing be upon him): “The angels do not enter such a home in which there is a picture, a dog, or a junūbī (someone in the state of big impurity).”[2] Being in the state of haidh, is also a category of big impurity.

After the person has passed away,  the menstruating woman can be in the same room as the deceased if there is a need for her to be there.
