Question
Is asking the Prophet SAW for anything you need in this life and the hereafter which is a type of aqeedah people have, it’s close to kufr?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Giving the qualities of Allah SWT to any of this creation is considered a shirk. Such as asking an idol, river, or sun for your needs. The Mushrikeen at the time of the Prophet SAW also believed in Allah SWT. But they considered that the idols were their gateways to get what they want from Allah SWT. There are many various narrations and evidence proving that the Prophet SAW was not present everywhere at one time.
Similarly, there is no evidence showing that Allah SWT gave the command of the world to the Prophet SAW. The intercession that the Prophet SAW is something that Allah has granted him. But intercession on the Day of Judgment is much different from asking the Prophet any of our needs.
As for the ruling on the iman of the individual, it will be seen if the individual believes that the Prophet SAW is present everywhere and knows everything. If a person believes that the Prophet is like this then there is a danger of that person’s Imaan.
