Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh
There are scholars who state that Hizqīl was a prophet.
Allah says in verse 243 of surah al-Baqarah: {Have you not considered those who left their homes in many thousands, fearing death? Allah said to them, "Die"; then He restored them to life. And Allah is full of bounty to the people, but most of the people do not show gratitude.} Many scholars of tafsir are stating under the tafsir of this verse that Hizqīl was the prophet sent to these people.[1] Al-Tabarī says that he was one of the prophets of Banū Isrā’il. He came after Yushaʿ and Kālib bin Yūfannā. His full name is Hizqīl bin Būzī, he was also called Ibn al-ʿAjūz.[2]
